MOSES LAKE — Sage Point Elementary School’s construction is progressing on budget and on schedule for the Moses Lake School District.

The new school is scheduled for completion in August, said Special Assistant to the Superintendent P.J. De Benedetti.

The district anticipates Sage Point will be ready in time for use in fall 2009.

De Benedetti said so far, winter weather has not delayed work on the site, encompassing a space between Peninsula Drive and Lakeshore Drive.

“When I checked last week, there (were) no weather related delays there,” he said.

The roof and walls of the buildings are installed, and the building is fully enclosed. Plumbing, electrical and heating needs to be finished inside the building.

“Most of the work now is going to be inside,” he said.

In addition, plenty of exterior work remains to be complete, he said.

“Almost all of the site work remains to be done,” De Benedetti said.

The new school is slated to cost about $11.1 million and is funded by the sale of voter-approved bonds and state matching funds.
