MOSES LAKE — This week, workers on the Vintage Apartment job site battled a biting wind chill and 8 inches of snow while they were framing the building.

If the wind chill dropped temperatures any lower, workers said they planned to take a day off, said Mitch Molitor, the project’s developer.

But until then, work was continuing as late as Tuesday as the snow fell along Grape Drive in Moses Lake.

When the entire project is completed, the complex will include 216 apartments, Molitor said.

The first phase of 144 apartments will likely be done by the end of March or the beginning of April, he said. The project will be built in two phases,

He said he started the project because it is hard to find good apartments in Moses Lake.

“We decided to built quality apartments,” he said. “That’s what we’re going after more than anything else.”

The apartments will be one-bedroom and two-bedroom. There will also be a common area for parties, pool and exercise room within the complex, Molitor said.

He described the apartments as a little higher end with granite bartops and beveled siding, not vinyl siding.

“It just gives you that extra little bonus,” he said. “We’re trying to make it just a little nicer from top to bottom.”

There will be 42 enclosed garages at the complex, which is “nice,” he added.

The exterior color of the complex’s bottom floor will be sage green with an arctic green trim, he said.

The exterior colors on the complex’s upper floors will be harris creme, traditional red and Tuscan gold, he said.

Oatmeal-colored paint will be part of the interior’s decor, as well as white trim, baseboards and nice shelving, he said.

Each unit has a deck, with higher-end stainless steel appliances, he said.

There will be a washer and a dryer in each apartment, he added.

Third floor apartments will include nine-foot vaulted ceilings, he said.

The complex is within walking distance to four churches, Walmart, Goodwill and Home Depot and adjacent to basketball courts and soccer fields, he said.

Molitor Development built the Holiday Inn Express in Moses Lake and also constructed storage units for another project, he said.

The apartments will be run by the Kirkland, Wash.-based Weidner Apartment Homes.
