MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake Christian Academy dominated the visiting Wilson Creek Devils 69-32 Tuesday night to earn the North Central Washington 1B conference victory.

The Lions built a 22-13 first quarter lead and never looked back as Moses Lake Christian kept the Devils from scoring in double digits in the game’s remaining quarters.

While Moses Lake Christian earned the home victory, head coach Lonnie Brown said his team is still working to come together.

“We did a lot of good things,” he said. “We are still growing and we have a lot of things to work on.”

Moses Lake Christian seniors Adrian Moffet and Riggs Yarbro combined for 55 for the Lions in the victory.

Moffet led all scorers with 28 points and was 4-for-8 from behind the 3-point line. Yarbro added 27 points and was 13-for-14 from the field.

Yarbro continues to impress his coach on the basketball court, Brown said.

“Riggs plays hard each and every night,” he said. “He is one of the stronger posts in the state. He can play the game.”

The Moses Lake Christian defense forced 27 Wilson Creek turnovers Tuesday night and Brown was satisfied with their performance.

“You have to play defense if you want to win games,” he said. “The guys did a pretty nice job tonight of getting good ball pressure.”

While Moses Lake Christian ran out to a 41-17 lead, Moffet said his team continued to play fundamental basketball.

“We played smart,” he said. “We didn’t make complicated passes. We kept it simple.”

The Lions return to the basketball court Saturday night when they travel to Coulee City to take on the Almira/Coulee-Hartline Warriors.

The opening tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
