Othello man shot in ankle

OTHELLO — An Othello man was shot in the ankle Friday night.

Law enforcement believes the shooting could be a gang-related.

Gunfire from a large caliber handgun struck the man in the ankle while he was standing in front of his residence on July Road near Othello, Adams County Undersheriff John Hunt stated.

The victim was transported to Othello Community Hospital by a private vehicle. Another male was inside the residence at the time of the shooting but was not injured.

Deputies found eight large caliber handgun rounds were fired at the residence from the street, he noted. The shooter was seen fleeing the scene in a four-door vehicle.

The sheriff’s office asks anyone with information related to the incident to contact them at 509-488-2061.
