Glenn Sand, 61, longtime Ephrata area resident, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, Dec. 8, 2008.

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Kayser’s Chapel of Memories in Moses Lake with Pastor Jody Bowser officiating. Arrangements are in care of Kayser’s Chapel & Crematory. You may sign the guestbook or leave a note for the family at www.kayserschapel.com.

Glenn was born in 1947 in Powell, Wyo., to Lorna and Elmer Sand. He was the third of six sons. After graduating from Ephrata High School in 1966, he found work in Seattle as an apprentice auto mechanic and shared an apartment with three of his good friends from school. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam with the 362nd Tropospheric Scatter Signal Company as a technician.

After returning home, he married Darlene Gossage of Soap Lake and moved to Ephrata in 1975, the same year he completed his apprenticeship as a journeyman electrician in the IBEW. There they raised their three children, Sheri Kim Leatham, Brian and Joel.

After retiring from the trade in 1992, Glenn liked to spend his time reading, building, and programming computers. Over the years he built many Web sites to keep in touch with his friends in the IBEW and those that served with him in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his mother, Lorna; his brothers Jerry, Bob, Lonnie, Steve and Doug; his daughter Sheri; sons Brian and Joel; and nine grandchildren and step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Elmer, and wife Darlene.
