EPHRATA — The Ephrata Tigers boys basketball team hosted the Chelan Goats Tuesday night in non-league basketball action.

Both teams took advantage of their conditioning, running the ball up and down the court.

The first quarter was close as neither the Goats nor the Tigers could pull away from each other as the Goats held a 14-13 at the end of the first quarter.

With the second quarter underway, the Tigers looked ready to take control of the game. Chelan had other plans as the Goats began to pull away from the Tigers and Chelan took a commanding 31-21 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Ephrata tried to erase the 10-point halftime deficit at home. Chelan tried to hold of the Tigers as Ephrata pulled within 51-43 heading into the fourth quarter.

The Tigers dug deep the fourth quarter attempting to match Chelan offensively.

Ephrata stayed close to Chelan, pulling within 66-64. The Tigers could not overcome the final two-point deficit as Chelan held on to knock off Ephrata.

Tuesday night’s game was the second contest of the season for Ephrata.

With Tuesday night’s loss, the Tigers dropped to 1-1 this season.

Ephrata returns to the court Friday night when they host the Ellensburg Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m.
