Charles Pool

Charles Pool, 71, (Ernie to most, Chuck to his siblings), went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, with his loving family surrounding him, after a courageous battle with cancer. Ernie was a longtime resident of Moses Lake. He was born on Dec. 4, 1936, in Colville, Wash., to John and Gladys Pool. They moved to Selah, Wash., where Ernie went to school and graduated from high school in June 1955. Following high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served from June 1955 to September 1975. Ernie worked as plant manager at Eastern State Hospital in Medical Lake, Wash., for 16 years, then came to Moses Lake to work at Basic American Foods for nine years before retiring. His hobbies were spending time with his grandchildren, family genealogy, fishing, and he was a Nascar racing fan. He was a member of the Moses Lake Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Elaine, son David and wife Sue of New London, Conn., sons Richard and Dan of Moses Lake, son Donnie and wife Jeanette of Spokane, their daughter Julie Stecher, also of Spokane, 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, brothers Jim and wife Quinda, Bob and wife Paulette, and Veril and wife Cheryl, sisters Chery McIntosh and Denise Crawford and husband Gary.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gladys Pool, sister Sandy Crooks, and brother Gary Pool.

Memorial service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 11 at 11 a.m. at the Moses Lake Church of the Nazarene. Internment will be on Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington.
