Wind causes four power outages

Fire District No. 4 responds to fire
GRANT COUNTY - Strong wind is to blame for four power outages, according to the Grant County Public Utility District.
Outages were reported near Road N and Road 4 by the Wheeler substation, near Road 2 and Road O Southeast in the Baseline Road area south of the Wheeler substation, and in the Royal Camp area, said Public Information Officer Dorothy Harris.
The PUD did not have information readily available on the number of homes impacted by the outages. Power to all homes was restored by late Monday afternoon, except Royal Camp.
"We have crews working in the Royal Camp area right now to restore power," Harris said Monday evening.
Grant County Fire District No. 4 responded to a fire caused by a downed power line, at road P and Baseline Road, said Fire Chief Randy Wiggins.
Wind made the power line fall, Wiggins said.
The fire district responded to the fire at 1:13 p.m. Response was complete at 2:06 p.m. A neighbor saw the fire while eating lunch and reported it, according to Wiggins.
"It burned some undergrowth under some fir trees," he said.
The fire caused no property damage.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, gusts of wind reached 38 miles per hour Monday.
