Martin Charles Pfeiffer, Sr.
Martin Charles Pfeiffer, Sr., “Moon” to his friends, was born on April 23, 1922, in Aargon, Wisc., and passed away July 24, 2008, in Moses Lake.
Moon was a hardworking man, employed by Keltch Construction for more than 10 years as an operating engineer and also employed by Hanford for over 20 years. He took pride in knowing that he was able to contribute to bringing irrigation to the Columbia Basin and having worked on both Grand Coulee and Chief Joseph Dams.
Moon and his wife, Lavonne, owned Wayward Winds Tavern in Mattawa, Wash., for 15 years.
Moon is survived by his three sisters, Mary, Elizabeth (Mac) and Elise, their spouses and their children. He is also survived by his son, Martin C. Pfeiffer Jr., his daughters Gale Shaver and Terry Gamble, their spouses and their children.
Preceding him in death are his wife, Lavonne, who passed away in 1986, his sister Rose, and his brothers John, Joe and George. Moon was well-liked by his peers and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at New Beginnings Christian Center on Monday, Aug. 18 at 1 p.m. A special thank you to Benson Family Funeral Service of Moses Lake for helping with the funeral arrangements.
