Fire burning 300 acres near Potholes State Park

MOSES LAKE - The Grant County Emergency Operations Center at Moses Lake is at an enhanced status in support of fire resources battling wildfire west of Potholes State Park, approximately 10 miles southwest of Moses Lake.

The fire, reported to the 911 center at 11 a.m. this morning, burned approximately 300 acres of sage brush and grass in a sparsely inhabited area. Fire apparatus are having a difficult time accessing the fire due to the sandy terrain in that portion of the county. The fire is currently 10 percent contained.

Resources from Grant County Fire Districts 10, 11, 5, 3, and 13, as well as from the Hanford Reservation, are battling the fire. There are currently no homes or value property at risk. No injuries have occurred. No evacuations have been ordered.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
