Programs benefit children

MOSES LAKE - The Moses Lake Fire Department seeks donations for their youth Fire and Burn Prevention program.

This year the fire department is working with the National Fire Safety Council to help provide fire prevention materials to Moses Lake youth, Fire Marshal Brett Bastian stated. All donations collected stay in the community.

The tax-deductible donations allow firefighters to provide fire prevention literature during presentations at schools, churches, safety fairs and other events, he noted.

"A broad range of subjects will be addressed including home escape, fire prevention and dialing 9-1-1 among others," he noted. "As you know these are priceless opportunities for our youth to interface with firefighters on a personal level."

The sponsorship donations range from $56.25 to serve 25 children up to $900 to serve 400 children. Donations can be sent to the Moses Lake Fire Department care of Fire Marshal Bastian at P.O. Box 1579, Moses Lake, WA 98837 by Aug. 29. Checks should be payable to the National Fire Safety Council.

"Every firefighter in our department is confident that fires and fire losses can be prevented," Bastian stated.
