Car show set in Moses Lake

MOSES LAKE - The second annual Hot August Nights starts tomorrow when cars, trucks and motorcycles gather in the parking lots of The Porterhouse Steakhouse and Jerry's Auto Supply in Moses Lake.

The event is to raise funds for Grant County Fire District No. 5 volunteer fire department.

Participants in the show donate $20 for their car, truck or motorcycle.

Organizers are asking everyone and businesses to donate cash or an item for the raffle. Items can be dropped off at the registration booth.

People registering a vehicle receive two raffle tickets. Raffle tickets are also available for a minimum $1 donation, with the option of donating more.

The first raffle is at 11 a.m. and other raffles occur at 15-minute intervals until 3 p.m. or later, depending on the number of donations given.

The trophy presentation occurs at 4 p.m.

Saturday also includes a challenge run starting at 9 a.m., slow drags, beginning at 4:30 p.m., and a cruise through the city at 7 p.m.

On Sunday at 11 a.m. there is a "north, south, east and west ride." When they register, participants indicate the direction they take when leaving Sunday and group together at The Porterhouse to drive off with others heading the same way.

People registering vehicles can do so at the event, by calling 509-750-1517, or by picking up a form at The Porterhouse, Golden Corral or Jerry's Auto Supply.
