Moses Lake woman allegedly shoots at husband

MOSES LAKE - A Moses Lake woman was arrested Monday night after allegedly attempting to shoot her husband.

Latonya R. Ford, 45, was initially arrested for attempted murder after firing a revolver at her husband at their West Loop Drive residence, Police Capt. Dave Ruffin said. The single bullet missed the 46-year-old man and he was not injured.

A neighbor contacted police after hearing a gunshot in the area of the residence, he said.

A verbal disturbance ensued between Ford and her husband prior to the shooting, Ruffin advised. Police are investigating what the verbal disturbance concerned.

A search warrant was obtained for Ford's residence and vehicle, Ruffin said. The suspect handgun was recovered.

He said Ford was to be arraigned in Grant County Superior Court Tuesday for assault in the first degree-domestic violence, unlawful possession of a firearm in the second degree and reckless endangerment.

The husband was reportedly involved in another incident one hour before the shooting, according to police records.

The husband reportedly threatened a 29-year-old female on West Loop Drive and spat in her face.

Ruffin said it is unclear if the two incidents are related and it remains under investigation.

Police ask citizens to contact the investigations unit at 509-766-9230 if they have any additional information related to the incidents.
