WARDEN - The Royal City Knights took on the Warden Cougar boys in a hard fought soccer match on Thursday. It took two overtimes for the Knights to defeat the Cougars by a score of 3-2.

Royal's coach Jens Jensen said his team was "confused" by Warden's style of play.

"Warden was playing everything in the air and we got caught up in it and had a hard time bring the ball down and finding feet," he said.

The end of regulation had the score tied at two going into overtime. Warden had the first opportunity to score but the shot went wide. Royal City won in the second overtime with a penalty kick by Jesus Rodriguez.

Royal City had 16 shots on goal and six saves, with goals scored by Luis De La Rosa, Salavador Vega, and the winning kick by Jesus Rodriguez.

Warden had 17 shots on goal with five saves, and goals scored by Miguel Santana and Scott Phillips.

The Knights went 11-5 on the season - their best league finish - and goes into the postseason as the fourth seed.
