Sixteen Columbia Basin gymnasts tumble toward state

MOSES LAKE - Sixteen girls from the AIM Gymnastics Competition Team are heading to state finals in the Seattle area during the next two weekends.

The girls, from Moses Lake, Ephrata, Royal City, Odessa and Mansfield train 12 months a year for a chance to compete in four events: floor exercise, vault, uneven bars and balance beam, according to Jamie Hines.

Twenty-three girls qualified for sectional competition with 16 continuing on to state, she added.

Level 4 gymnasts will be competing this weekend in Bellevue, Wash., and Level 5 and Level 6 gymnasts competing in Kenmore, Wash., May 2 and May 3, according to Hines.
