Public car wash to open by May 1

MOSES LAKE - Ambassadors with the Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce got to kick the tires on their community's newest dealership.

A ribbon-cutting for Discovery Honda took place late Tuesday afternoon.

"We've got our entire dealership pretty much open to the public now," said Jacie Daschel, co-owner of the dealership with her husband John. "The car wash is almost open. We expect by May 1 that we'll be able to open it up to the public."

The dealership recently received its signage for car wash rules, Daschel said.

The parts and services departments moved into the building over the weekend from neighboring dealership Discovery Ford, also owned by the Daschels. The sales department moved in at the end of March.

Daschel said response from the community is positive.

"We measure as a percentage of our objective, how many cars you are expected to sell," she explained. "With the opening of the store, we're about 180 percent of objective, so we're pretty excited."

Honda gave the Daschels an extra 70 cars for opening the new building, she added.

The office for both dealerships has moved into the new Honda building. Daschel estimated 18 to 20 people work in the building, located at 1200 S. Pioneer Way.

"We're just really excited," Daschel said. "The Ford store is doing really well, being more focused on Ford and used cars, and then Honda is more focused on Hondas and used cars as well. We've got a friendly rivalry going on, so that's nice."

A grand opening celebration is planned for May 31.
