MOSES LAKE - Grant County Commissioner LeRoy Allison announced Wednesday he is seeking re-election to the Grant County Board of Commissioners district 2 position.

Allison served the board for approximately 15 years.

"The principal reason that convinced me to run again is that I really enjoy the job and for the most part, the challenges that come with it," he stated. "It's very rewarding to see the county making progress on some important long-term goals including improvements to the fairgrounds, streamlining the permit process, reducing insurance costs, addressing needs for space and improving groundwater quality."

Allison noted he is also running for re-election because he enjoys working as a team with his fellow commissioners, elected officials and

department leaders.

"I think the county's success in large part reflects improved internal communications and a revitalized team that is cost-effective, responsive to the public and eager to address challenges," he stated.

Allison wants to continue representing his citizens responsibly.

"In my years on the board, I have operated under the central premise that we are serving the publics' interest and that the money we work with is not the county's (money), it's the taxpayer's hard-earned dollars," he stated.

Allison plans to encourage recreation and tourism opportunities based on the Columbia Basin's natural resources.

"We have a stunning landscape in Grant County, carved by volcanic eruptions and cataclysmic floods," he noted. "The results include a scenic mix of land masses, cliffs, canyons and hundreds of lakes, which paint a compelling picture for those who enjoy outdoor recreation."
