Grant County Fire District No. 3 has clean audit

Audit uses financial transactions from 2006-2007

GRANT COUNTY - An independent accountability audit by the state found Grant County Fire Protection District No. 3 was in compliance.

The state performed procedures to determine whether the district complied with state laws, regulations and its own policies and procedures. The audit also examined district management accountability for public resources.

Areas examined during the audit were selected using financial transactions from Jan. 1, 2006 through Dec. 31, 2007.

State documents show the district complied with state laws, regulations and its own policies and procedures. Internal controls were adequate to safeguard public assets.

The district provides fire prevention, suppression services and protection of life and property to Quincy and George residents. It has five full-time employees and approximately 80 volunteer firefighters.

Kevin Gardner, Court Rylaarsdam and Jim Reimann served as board of commissioners during the audit period.
