William R. Shay

| April 10, 2008 9:00 PM

William R. Shay passed away on April 7 at the age of 82. He is survived by wife Grace, one brother Roger and wife Pat from Georgia, daughter Sharon from Minneapolis, and sons Mike, his wife Deb from Ephrata and Bill, his wife Becky from Moses Lake. Other survivors include grandchildren Mike, Tanya, Tom, Chris, and 11 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by mother Beatrice, dad William, brothers Richard and Allen.

William (Bill), was an honest, hardworking, and generous man all his life. Above all else he always thought of his family first and provided for their every need. He loved the outdoors and taking his loved ones camping, fishing, hunting, and boating. He was proud of the service he gave to the United States Military and was among the first to achieve the rank of SMSGT in the Air Force. He served five years in the Navy and 18 years in the Air Force. He loved to share his stories with all who would listen. After Bill retired from the Air Force, he moved to Warden, where he purchased a farm and finished raising his family. He also went to work for the Warden School District as the transportation supervisor. And if that wasn't enough, in his spare time he was also a Grant County Reserve Deputy. He truly enjoyed helping to create a safer community for not only his own family, but those around him as well.
