Inez E. James

Inez E. James, member of a Minnesota pioneer family, passed away March 20, 2008, at her home. She was bom Jan. 28, 1915, to John and Josephine Eklof at Cokato, Minn. She was baptized and confirmed at the Stockholm Lutheran Church, Cokato. She was a graduate of Cokato High School and of a two-year course in elementary education at Winona State College, Winona, Minn. She taught for a number of years in her home state. Later, following the example of her sisters, Inez moved to Washington state where she resumed her teaching profession. During this period, she attended Eastern Washington University, Cheney, Wash., where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in education. In 1953 she was married to Wm. Spencer James, Marlin, Wash. The couple shared in the management of their ranch at Marlin, as well as the Eklof farm in Minnesota. The couple had one son, Stuart F. James. Mrs. James was a member of Eastern Washington University Alumni Association and of the Washington State Retired Teachers Association. She was also a member of the Wilson Creek Grange Society, State and National. Mrs. James is survived by her son, Stuart and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Spencer and by an infant daughter, Diane; also her parents, sisters, Ethel A. Jones, Lillian M. Jurgensen and Irene E. Yon. Services will be held at the Odessa Cemetery Chapel on April 5 at 2 p.m. Mrs. James enjoyed springtime with the variety of flowers and their colors. So we are asking those that will come and honor this great lady to be brightly dressed with the colors of spring.
