Rosena Grace Mortensen Palmer

Rosena Grace Mortensen Palmer, 80, passed away at her home in Othello surrounded by her loved ones on Monday, March 31, 2008.

She was born on July 10, 1927, in Salem, Idaho and was the third daughter of Forland and Grace (Birch) Mortensen.

Rosena married Robert Clayton Palmer on Jan. 22, 1945. They farmed in Sugar City, Idaho where they had five children.

In 1957, they bought a farm in Othello and, soon after, their last child was born.

By the age of 38, Rosena was a single mother with six children at home. She worked very hard to support her children. She was very industrious and was able to maintain her home and farm for her children. Her family was very important to her and she loved camping, fishing and spending time with them.

Rosena was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints. She had a strong testimony and always expressed it to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rosena is survived be her children LeAnn (Carl) Tosh, Dell (Linda) Palmer, and Doyle (Karen) Palmer all of Othello, Daris Palmer, Yakima, and Linet (Charles) Shields, Spokane, 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters and a brother.

Her oldest daughter, Laree Overfield, preceded her in death in 1992.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 4 at 11 a.m. at the LDS Stake Center in Othello. Stevens Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
