"It was really exciting," Quincy head coach Jeanne Brindle said. "The girls, they needed to get that in and get a little confidence built up."

WILSON CREEK - The Devils started quickly and staved off some adversity late, knocking off the visiting Tigers 25-11, 25-19, 28-26 in a North Central Washington League match.
Wilson Creek (6-1 overall, 4-1 league) got a team-high 14 kills and six blocks from Ksenja Fredere in the win. Tiffany Friend led the Devils' serving corps with a 22-of-23, three-ace effort. Jackie Treat was Wilson Creek's all-around leader, going for eight aces and four kills.
"We're a fairly balanced team," Wilson Creek head coach Mike Ottis said. "That's kind of how the team's been playing."
The Devils travel to Easton next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., then go to Moses Lake Christian for a key league matchup next Thursday. Ottis said he was pleased with the way his girls fought through tough stretches against Entiat, something they figure to deal with against Moses Lake Christian.
"That's probably the best match we've had all year in terms of having to battle back from a few things," he said. "That's the kind of thing you're looking for right now."

PATEROS - The Lady Lions kept an unblemished mark in NCWL matches, earning a 25-14, 25-15, 25-17 victory over the Nannies.
Esther Timofeyev recorded 18 kills and nine digs for MLCA. Chelsea Allsbrook added 11 digs, and Ashley Cole had 10 digs and 25 assists. The Lions are now 4-0 in league matches, and host Mansfield next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. before Wilson Creek comes calling on Thursday.
"They played very well," Lions head coach Dean Spurbeck said of his squad's effort on Thursday. "They executed what they're told to do."
Spurbeck is looking to develop more plays through starting setter Cole in the hope that opponents will have to defend more than star attacker Timofeyev.
"That's kind of what we're working towards," he said. "Fundamentally, they're pretty sound doing everything, as far as offensively and defensively."

MATTAWA - The Lady Knights moved to 3-2 in South Central Athletic Conference matches, knocking off the Warriors 25-19, 25-20, 25-11.
Stephanie Bartlett led Royal with eight kills, with Kelcy Jansen adding five more. Leslie Brown had three kills, three aces and 10 assists, while Alyssa Christensen was the Knights' defensive star with 25 digs.
"I got to play a lot of the non-starters tonight, so that was good for them," Royal head coach Ashley Roberts said. "The last game, we just played well. We stepped it up from the first two."
The Knights travel to the Connell Invite on Saturday, then return to SCAC play next Tuesday when they host Columbia-Burbank at 7 p.m.

BURBANK - The Lady Cougars fell to 2-6 overall, 1-4 SCAC, with a 25-16, 25-13, 25-13 setback to the Coyotes.
"We struggled to pass very effectively today," Warden head coach Jeff Kottong said. "Our serve receive and passing was not very good and Burbank is a good hitting team, so we didn't fare very well."
Kelsey Garner led the Cougars with three kills, six digs, one block and one ace. Katherine Martin served 9 for 9 and had four digs, while Brandi Kisler was 7 for 7 serving.
Warden will participate in the Connell Invite on Saturday and returns to league play next Tuesday, hosting the Kiona-Benton Bears at 7 p.m.
