Victor Albrandt
Victor Albrandt was born Aug. 30, 1933, to Fred and Katherine (Meyer) Albrandt at Nisland, S.D. He was raised on farms in the Nisland and Vale areas. He left the farm to serve in the Navy for 18 months.
In 1965, he met Elaine Mathison and hired her to drive a tractor during the beet harvest. They were married March 26, 1966, at Whitewood. The couple farmed near Vale.
Victor worked in the woods around the Hills after leaving the farm. In 1973, the family moved to Moses Lake to work in the U & I Sugar Factory until it closed. Then he worked in the Dayton, Ore., area for 18 months then moved back to Washington to work for the Columbia Basin Irrigation District at Soap Lake, delivering water to farmers until his retirement in 1995. The family moved back to South Dakota and made Whitewood their home.
Victor, 74, Whitewood, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at his residence in Whitewood.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Albrandt, Whitewood; daughters, Debbie and her husband, John Shafto, Whitewood, and Natalie Albrandt, Atlanta, Ga.; son, Ryan Albrandt and his wife, Jenny, Whitewood; five grandchildren, John V. Shafto, Cheyenne Shafto, Elizabeth Albrandt, Andrew Albrandt, and Katherine, Albrandt, all of Whitewood; brother, Henry Albrandt and his wife, Beulah, Rapid City; sisters, Millie and her
husband, Bob Ashley, Rapid City; Martha Reinhardt, Sturgis, and Emma Painter, Brush, Colo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and three sisters.
He was a wonderful father, grandfather and husband and will be so greatly missed.
Services were held Sept. 7 at Whitewood, S.D.
