Man remains unidentified

ROYAL CITY - The identity of a man who was found dead Saturday morning in the Royal Slope area remains unidentified.

The Grant County Coroner's Office performed an autopsy on the man Tuesday and confirmed the cause of death was due to multiple blunt-impact injuries to the head.

The coroner's office continues to investigate what caused the blunt impact and the identification of the man. The coroner's office advised there is significant damage to the victim's face.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office reports the incident may be a homicide. The sheriff's office advised the man appears to be Hispanic and his age may range from the late 20s to 30s.

The body was located by a Royal City Police officer Saturday morning after a hunter called 9-1-1 to report a suspicious maroon-colored van in the area near Frenchman Hills Road.

The hunter and police officer discovered dried splattered blood inside the van. The body of the man was located close to the van on his back in the sagebrush.
