Victim remains unidentified

ROYAL CITY - An unidentified man was found dead in the Royal Slope area Saturday morning.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident as a possible homicide.

The man appears to be Hispanic and in his late 20's or early 30's, Grant County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy John Turley said.

A parked vehicle splattered with dried blood was located by a hunter who was scouting the area to plan a hunting trip, he said. The hunter contacted a Royal City Police officer who was first on the scene.

The police officer located the vehicle and confirmed there was dried blood inside, Turley said. Upon further investigation, the officer located the dead man laying on his back in the sagebrush near Frenchman Hills Road close to the vehicle.

The Grant County Coroner's Office is performing an autopsy Tuesday to determine the cause of death and the identity of the man.

Further information is unavailable.

The incident remains under investigation.
