Moses Lake residence damaged by fire

No injuries, animals rescued
MOSES LAKE - There were no injuries in a mobile home fire on West Lee Street Friday night in Moses Lake.
The fire appears to have started due to an electrical wire malfunction, Moses Lake Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Brett Bastian said. There are two possible electrical sources being investigated.
When the Moses Lake Fire Department arrived on scene, two rooms were fully involved in the fire and the rest of the residence suffered extreme smoke damage, he said.
The two adults who lived at the residence were not home at the time of the fire, Bastian said. A neighbor who could see smoke permeating from the residence called 9-1-1 to report the fire.
Firefighters rescued three dogs from the fire and two cats escaped on their own, he said. The animals appear to be recovering well.
It took 12 firefighters approximately 10 minutes to control the blaze and nearly one hour to mop up the mess left behind, Bastian said. Although several other homes were nearby, the fire was contained to the single residence.
The two adults have family in Moses Lake they are staying with because the residence is not inhabitable, he said. Initially it appears the residence is a total loss.
