Moses Lake man recovers after accident
Motorcycle collided with an SUV
MOSES LAKE - Stephen R. Ricard, 21, Moses Lake, has a long road to recovery after an Aug. 27 motorcycle accident in Moses Lake.
"The right side of his body was crushed," Sand Scorpions Off Road Vehicle club representative Peny Archer said.
Ricard is affiliated with the Sand Scorpions.
His collarbone, arm, pelvis and leg are among the several broken bones, she said. He was returned home to his mother and a sibling Sunday night from Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Ricard's mother went from working fulltime to part time to provide in home care to her son, Archer said.
The family does not have insurance and is in need of money to care for Ricard, she said. Sand Scorpions members set up an account to collect donations for the family.
The account is in the name of Stephen Ricard at the Bank of America located at 103 E. Third Ave. in Moses Lake. The account number is 33333022.
The Sand Scorpions held a fund-raiser last weekend bringing in close to $300, Archer said.
Ricard collided with a GMC Denali in late August, according to Moses Lake police.
He was later airlifted to Harborview Medical Center.
Moses Lake Police Department Capt. Dave Ruffin said Ricard will be issued a ticket for reckless driving. Witnesses at the accident scene reportedly advised Ricard was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed in the 40 mile per hour zone on West Broadway Avenue in a reckless manner.
