Irene S. Condie
Irene S. Condie, 95, of Leavenworth and Wenatchee and a former 60-year resident of Ephrata, died Monday afternoon, Sept. 3, 2007, in the Western Saddle Rock Home East in Wenatchee.
She was born Irene S. Koski on March 17, 1912, to Matthew and Sandra (Kettola) Koski at Park City, Utah, where she grew up and received her education. On June 4, 1936, she married Gordon M. Condie at Green River, Wyom., and they made their home in Kemmerer, Wyom. In 1942 they moved to Bremerton, Wash., where she worked at the Bremerton Navy Yard until 1946.
They then moved to Ephrata to make their home and together with her husband, Gordon, they were instrumental in establishing Lakeview Golf and Country Club, where she also served as the first president of the ladies division. In 1954 she was employed by the Grant County P.U.D. as a file clerk, a position she had until her retirement in 1979.
She was a 30-year member of the Lakeview Golf and Country Club, member of the United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star, all in Ephrata. Both Irene and Gordon were great companions on and off the golf course, they also enjoyed their dance club and the many trips to Reno. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and always showed and gave of her love unconditionally.
Irene is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and R.H. Siegert of Leavenworth; three grandchildren, Bart Flanagan, Kerry Lane and Jim Newhouse, Jr. and two great-grandchildren, Nichole Lane and Jack Devlin.
At Irene's request there will be no service. Placement of her remains will be in Ephrata. Those who wish may make a memorial in her name to the Western Saddle Rock Home East Assisted Living Facility at 1107 Madison St.; Wenatchee, WA 98801.
Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, is in charge of the arrangements.
