MOSES LAKE - The new Grant County Fair Manager is Moses Lake's Bill West.

The Grant County commissioners interviewed four candidates for the position of fair manager Thursday, ending with two strong possibilities, said Grant County Commissioner LeRoy Allison.

The commissioners took roughly 40 minutes following interviews to decide on West.

"Several things were really important items for consideration. One is Bill West has worked within the fair association and the fair board as well as he's represented the rodeo association in the past and we have heard nothing but positive comments in this entire time frame," Allison said.

West's history with the Grant County Fair and his knowledge of the commissioners' future plans for fairgrounds improvements were key factors, Allison added.

West said he is looking forward to his job and wants to continue making the fairgrounds a major attraction.

"The whole idea is let's make it the showcase of Grant County. It is and it's going to be better and better," he said.

He added he believes it's the facility's time to shine and with the money the commissioners have committed to making improvements there is a lot to be done to draw more people to the fairgrounds.

West's first day as Grant County Fair Manager is Sept. 17.

"I'm just really looking forward to a lot of hard work, but a lot of fun and a lot of positive moving forward from here on," West said.
