Ephrata air show set for takeoff Thursday

EPHRATA - Chapter 67 of the International Aeronautics Clubs is sponsoring the Apple Turnover Contest, beginning Thursday at the Ephrata Airport.

The contest runs through Saturday and will include five categories of powered aircraft - basic, sportsman, intermediate, advanced and unlimited. The top three performers in each category take home prize money and a trophy. A trophy will also go to the highest-scoring competitor over age 65.

Registration and practice flights are scheduled for Thursday, with competition taking place Friday and Saturday. The public's best viewing opportunity is from the lawn and parking lot next to the Port of Ephrata office, 1990 Division Avenue East.
