Victim recovers in hospital, no arrest made by police

OTHELLO - A Royal City man was stabbed at an Othello dance hall Saturday night.

The victim was stabbed once in the abdomen at the Cimarron Motel Restaurant Dance and Lounge facility, Othello Police Department Chief Steve Dunnagan said.

The victim was taken to Othello Community Hospital and later transported to a hospital in the Tri-Cities area to undergo surgery. On Monday the victim was in the hospital in satisfactory condition, police reported. His release date was not set.

An arrest was not made. Dunnagan said the suspect and the victim do not appear to be friends or acquaintances.

He said the motive for the stabbing remains unclear and the incident remains under investigation.
