Lorriane Michel

Lorriane Michel was born on Feb. 26, 1924, in Huron, S.D. She lived for a few years in Huron and then moved to Oakes, N.D. where her father worked for the railroad. In 1940 the family moved to Tacoma, and in 1941 they moved to Auburn.

Lorraine graduated from Auburn High School in 1942. After graduation she went to work at Boeing as a riveter. It was there that she caught the eye of Everett Michel. They married in February 1943. Lorraine and Everett lived in Seattle for a short time, but then moved to Othello when Everett started farming. As a farmer's wife Lorraine cooked three hot meals a day for the harvest crew, even taking a hot lunch out to the crew in the field. In 1945 their daughter Linda was born followed by a son Randy five years later.

Lorraine was very active in Eastern Star and for many years was Mother Advisor for the Rainbow Girls. She loved to play pinochle and was on a bowling league. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting and needlecrafts.

Lorraine was divorced in 1968 and remained in Othello until 1980 when she moved to Bothell, to be near her daughter and granddaughters. She moved to Moses Lake in 1999 where she lived at the Hearthstone Retirement Center until she moved to Avalon Care Center, Othello, where she lived for three and a half years.

Lorraine died peacefully in the early morning hours of Oct.12, 2007, with her daughter by her side. She is survived by a daughter Linda (Curt) Lovins, Seattle, son Randy (Bonnie) Michel, Othello, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Hattie Burrington, three sisters and two nephews.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Othello. Inurnment will be at the Mt. View Cemetery, Auburn, Wash.
