Moses Lake swimming blows away Ike in final home meet

MOSES LAKE - The Moses Lake High School girls swimming and diving team had no troubles in its Senior Night match with visiting Eisenhower on Thursday, winning nine of 12 events in a 126-52 pummeling of the Cadets.
The Chiefs' 200-yard medley relay foursome of Megan Schuh, Cari Cortez, Stephanie McFarland and Catherine Polito started the afternoon with a first-place time of 1 minute, 59.05 seconds.
Hannah Grigg followed with a 10-second margin of victory in the 200-yard freestyle, winning in 2:08.02. Polito was nearly as impressive in her 200-yard individual medley win, coasting home at 2:17.80. Team captain Reilly Hourigan took the 50-yard freestyle crown in 26.37 seconds.
Schuh edge Eisenhower's Rachel Weber in the 100-yard butterfly, winning in 1:09.38. McFarland was the 100-yard freestyle champion in 58.78, while Grigg obliterated the field in the 500-yard freestyle, winning her second event of the day in 5:38.47.
Hourigan, Grigg, McFarland and Caroline Sharp easily won the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:48.32). Heather Devine won the diving competition by compiling 150.45 points.
The Chiefs will send a huge contingency to the district meet in Ellensburg next Friday and Saturday. Qualifers head to state competition, Nov. 8-10 at the Federal Way Aquatics Center.
Volleyball
Warden 3, Wahluke 2
MATTAWA - The Lady Cougars won their second straight South Central Athletic Conference contest, rallying to defeat the Warriors on Thursday night.
Warden (4-8 overall, 3-7 SCAC) was victorious by scores of 22-25, 25-13, 25-18, 23-25 and 15-10. Brandi Kisler had a superb all-around game to lead the Cougars, compiling 15 kills, 14 assists, four aces and two blocks.
Warden's Kelsey Garner added 14 digs, nine kills and three aces. Emma Bisnett had 1 0 kills and three blocks. Katherine Martin was a perfect 12 of 12 serving, and junior varsity call-up Rosemely Pruneda served five aces.
The Cougars return to action next Tuesday for Senior Night, hosting Columbia-Burbank at 7 p.m. Warden figures to be in good position to sew up a playoff spot if it can beat Burbank or Kiona-Benton next Thursday.
"It's in our hands to do what we want with it," Warden head coach Jeff Kottong said.
Wilson Creek 3, Thorp 0
WILSON CREEK - The Devils were challenged by the visiting Tigers in every game, but swept to a 25-22, 25-19, 25-23 decision in North Central Washington League play on Thursday.
Wilson Creek's Ksenja Fredere had a team-high 11 kills. Jackie Treat added four kills, and was 19 of 19 serving with seven aces. Holly Wilson chipped in four kills and three blocks.
The Devils travel to Entiat next Tuesday for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
