Three vehicles crash on Stratford

MOSES LAKE - Three vehicles collided on North Stratford Road near Moses Lake sending two people to Samaritan Healthcare Monday afternoon.

Numerous witnesses began flooding the Multi-Agency Communication Center (MACC) with calls at 4:11 p.m. to report the collision, Grant County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Tom Jones said.

A 1996 Jeep Cherokee driven by Delbert Surface, 34, Moses Lake, was traveling southbound on the road behind a 1982 Ford F1 pickup truck driven by a 17-year-old Moses Lake male. Jones said it appeared the 17-year-old driver slowed to turn left onto Road 5.9 and Surface allegedly struck the truck in the rear end.

The collision appeared to cause the Jeep Cherokee to reportedly strike a 1990 Ford Thunderbird driven by Amanda Weaver, 19, Moses Lake, who was traveling northbound on the roadway, Jones said.

Surface and Weaver were transported to Samaritan Healthcare for treatment to what initially appeared to be minor injuries, he said.

The 17-year-old male driver and his 17-year-old male passenger did not appear to be injured, Jones added.

Stewart Burke, 19, Moses Lake, and a 2-year-old Moses Lake female, who were passengers in the Ford Thunderbird did not initially appear to be injured.

The sheriff's office rerouted traffic in the area for nearly two hours while the Grant County Fire District No. 5 firefighters cleaned the scene of broken glass, car parts, oil and other debris.

Citations will be issued once the investigation is complete, Jones said.
