Rodeo club's hard work shows at state finals

OKANOGAN - Moses Lake Junior Rodeo Club kids were in attendance for the Washington State Junior Rodeo Finals held Sept. 28-30 at the Okanogan County Fairgrounds.

Moses Lake area participants included Miranda Frank, Keicia Beck, Dylan Beck, Dakota Beck, Caleb McMillan, Riley McMillan, Hanna McMillan, Nick McMillan, Josh Canode, Lane Zimblemen, Jesse Zimblemen, Payton Guenther, Wyatt Guenther, Shelby Guenther, Kelsey Campbell and Hannah Jo Call. The participants had to fight past rainy, windy weather throughout the three-day event.

Dakota Beck, the 2006 Washington High School Bull Riding champion, was the winner of the Senior Boys Division bareback riding title. He also participate in the Othello High School Rodeo the same weekend, taking first place there as well.

Hanna McMillan also made a name for herself, winning the All-Around Saddle for the Little People Division.

The club congratulates all its members on a job well done and reminds everyone to make plans for the New Year's Eve Buckin' Blowout, Dec. 31 at the Kenny Ardell Pavilion at the Grant County Fairgrounds. All proceeds from the event fund activities that help make the Moses Lake Junior Rodeo Club one of the best in the Northwest.

Any kids interested in joining the club are invited to the annual awards banquet on Friday, Oct. 12, at the Grant County Fairgrounds Grange Hall. The event begins at 7 p.m. For more information, contact Lynette McMillan at 509-246-7114 or Karen Frank at 509-765-8560.

Complete results from the Junior Rodeo Finals are listed below by age group.

Little People Division: Hanna McMillan, first in barrels, first in stake race, first in goal tail untying, fourth in poles, second in mutton busting, first in all-around.

Pee Wee Girls Division: Riley McMillan, third in goat tying, fifth in pole bending.

Pee Wee Boys Division: Dylan Beck, second in goat tail tying; Payton Guenther, second in dummy roping.

Junior Boys Division: Caleb McMillan, first in steer riding, third in barrels, second in pole bending, first in reserve all-around.

Senior Girls Division: Miranda Frank, fourth in pole bending, fifth in steer daubing, fifth in goat tying; Kelsey Campbell, first in breakaway roping; Hannah Jo Call, third in cow riding, fourth in goat tying, fourth in steer daubing.

Senior Boys Division: Dakota Beck, first in bareback riding.
