Royal volleyball falls in five

ROYAL CITY - The Royal High School volleyball team fell in an exciting, five-game match to the visiting Columbia-Burbank Coyotes on Monday night in South Central Athletic Conference play.

The match, which was rescheduled from Oct. 2, ended in Burbank's favor by scores of 25-16, 21-25, 25-19, 16-25, 15-6. The loss dropped Royal's SCAC record to 4-3.

"We just couldn't finish," Lady Knights head coach Ashley Roberts said. "We played right with them the whole time."

Janae Anderson had a team-high 19 assists for Royal, while Alyssa Christensen led in digs with 18. Stephanie Bartlett had eight kills and Leslie Brown added four kills.

The Lady Knights are back on the road tonight, playing at Connell at 7 p.m.

Moses Lake Christian 3, Mount Vernon Christian 2

MOSES LAKE - Jesse Bassett scored a pair of goals as the Moses Lake Christian boys soccer team ended its non-league season on Friday with a 3-2 win over visiting Mount Vernon Christian.

Kameron Firouzi scored the Lions' other goal. Moses Lake Christian returns to action today, hosting Sunnyside Christian in a league contest at 3:30 p.m.

Prosser 10, Quincy 0

PROSSER - The Mustangs out-shot the Lady Jackrabbits 24-0 to easily win a Central Washington Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday.

Quincy goalkeeper Celia Beltran made seven saves in the loss. Molly Field had three goals for Prosser, the first coming at the eight-minute mark on an assist by Kara Johnson, the second in the 26th minute on a pass from Jordan Brown, and the third unassisted in the 58th minute.

Quincy plays again Tuesday, hosting the Ellensburg Bulldogs at 4 p.m.

Grandview 7, Othello 3

OTHELLO - Jenny Silva, Chantall Guzman and Lindsay Garza all scored goals for the Lady Huskies, but they dropped a CWAC contest to the visiting Greyhounds on Saturday.

Grandview's Lucia Trejo had six goals, opening the day's scoring in the 12th minute off a feed by Anna George. Grandview led 2-0 before Silva struck in the 18th minute, assisted by Garza.

The Greyhounds scored again in the 20th and 30th minutes to lead 4-1, but Garza narrowed Othello's halftime deficit with a tally in the 35th minute. Guzman got the assist.

Trejo had back-to-back goals to open the second half. Guzman drew the Huskies within 6-3, scoring off a pass from Tiffany Martinez at the 65-minute mark.

Grandview had 18 shots on goal to Othello's 16. Alicia De La Fuente had two saves in goal for the Huskies, and Silva relieved her to make nine stops.

Othello travels to Selah today at 4 p.m.
