Programs teach employment skills

OLYMPIA - Rep. Judy Warnick, R-Moses Lake, was appointed to the Correctional Industries Board of Directors last week.

As a member of the board, she will review polices related to work release programs.

The work release programs teach employment skills to inmates once they are released from prison.

"I am excited to have another opportunity to represent my constituents," Warnick said. "Work release programs are beneficial for inmates to gain work skills for employment after they have paid their debt to society. I look forward to helping ensure that these programs are effective for our state."

The board consists of 13 people appointed by the governor, the state House of Representatives and the state Senate. Legislative appointees do not vote and serve a two-year term.
