Two die in collision near Royal City

Three others injured

ROYAL CITY - Two people from Royal City died in a three-vehicle collision Friday afternoon on state Route 26, eight miles east of Royal City.

Amarjeet K. Dhanoyia, 21, and Sudarshan Singh, 52, were pronounced dead at the scene by the Grant County Coroner's Office, the Washington State Patrol reported.

David C. Port, 63, Pullman, was traveling eastbound on the highway in a 2005 Dodge Caravan, the patrol reported. Michael D. Archibald, 28, Ellensburg, was traveling behind Port in a 1979 GMC truck.

Port reportedly slowed for traffic and Archibald allegedly struck the back of the Port's vehicle, according to the patrol. The impact allegedly caused Port's vehicle to enter the westbound lane of the highway.

The Dodge Caravan collided with a 2001 Daewoo Leganza driven by Amarjeet K. Dhanoyia, the patrol advised.

According to the state patrol, Archibald was not injured.

Port was transported to Othello Community Hospital for internal injuries. He was later airlifted to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.

Elizabeth Anne, 56, Pullman, was a passenger in the Dodge Caravan. She was reportedly taken to Othello Community Hospital for a chest injury and facial cuts.

Gurmeet K. Dhanoyia, 49, Royal City, was a passenger in the Daewoo Leganza. She was transported to Othello Community Hospital for an allegedly fractured elbow and a hand injury, the patrol reported.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation and citations are pending.

All three vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene.
