EPHRATA - A Grant County Jail inmate, who was accidentally released last week by immigration, was returned to jail Monday by the Othello Police Department.

Grant County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy John Turley advised Ramon Murillo-Flores, 28, was arrested after Othello police located him working at a hay cubing job in Adams County.

Murillo-Flores accepted a plea agreement and pleaded guilty to one count of child rape in the first degree, one count of molestation in the first degree and incest, the Grant County Courthouse Clerk's Office advised. He was originally sentenced to 20 months in prison but was re-sentenced Sept. 12 to a lesser prison term and has since served all of his sentence.

Murillo-Flores was accidentally released due to a paperwork error by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Turley said. ICE inadvertently sent a release notice to the jail and the jail followed the orders releasing Murillo-Flores.

ICE agent Larry Dye sent a notice of release to the jail Sept. 27, advising the inmate didn't need to be detained any longer, Turley said.

"Within several hours of Murillo's release ICE contacted the Grant County Jail and advised that the release was a mistake," Turley stated.

While Murillo-Flores was out of jail, the mother of his victim was notified to create a plan to safely transport the Moses Lake child to and from school.
