Ephrata housing requests a go
Between 623 to 798 new homes expected
EPHRATA - Two housing developments in Ephrata will apparently emerge next year as planned near Dodson Road and Oasis Park.
The development request for the Dodson Road development and the preliminary plat approval for the Railway Estates development near Oasis Park were approved Nov. 21 by the Ephrata City Council.
The developments will create between 623 to 798 new homes in Ephrata, a town of about 7,000.
The new housing, coupled with four other developments approved in town this year, could result in the town eventually growing by 3,000 or 4,000 people when complete, said Ephrata's Community Development Director Ron Sell during an earlier interview with the Herald.
The 318-acre Dodson Residential Community is expected to include 575 to 750 homes. The Dodson homes will have about three bedrooms and may range between slightly under 2,000 square feet to 5,000 square feet, project partner Tom Wells said.
There will be about 48 homes built on the 48-acre Railway Estates development and are expected to cost between $135,000 to $180,000 each, developer Bruce Crawford said.
