MOSES LAKE - Five people were arrested for felony rioting in Moses Lake Wednesday morning.

A few minutes after midnight a large disturbance was reported to Moses Lake Police involving an unknown number of subjects on West Northshore Drive, Moses Lake Police Capt. Dave Ruffin said. The incident reportedly began at the Alder Fill.

An altercation occurred between a passing motorist and several subjects walking along the fill, he said. What happened between the passing motorist and the subjects was not included in the police report, he said.

The walking subjects reportedly followed the motorist to West Northshore Drive, Ruffin said. Some of the subjects were reportedly armed with knives, baseball bats and an air pistol. He said it is unclear who was carrying what weapon or how many weapons were involved.

No assault appeared to take place but there was a clear threat of assault, he said. No injuries were reported. The incident could have been much worse, he said.

When police arrived several subjects fled the area, Ruffin said. Five pedestrians were arrested but no one from the vehicle was arrested, he added.

Daniel Gallegos, 25, Othello, was arrested for felony riot. Fabian Luzanilla, 20, Othello, was arrested for felony riot.

A 17-year-old male was arrested for felony riot, malicious mischief in the second degree and for being a minor in possession of alcohol. The 17-year-old reportedly kicked out a patrol car window, Ruffin said. He reportedly did not suffer any injuries.

A second 17-year-old male was arrested for felony riot and for being a minor in possession of alcohol. A 15-year-old male was arrested for felony riot.

Ruffin said he is not sure if any of the subjects arrested have any gang affiliations.
