Freshman Brice leads Chiefs bowlers
MOSES LAKE - Tuesday's matchup with the Pasco Bulldogs turned out to be another blowout for the Moses Lake Chiefs girls bowling team.
The Chiefs ran their Central Washington High School League record to 6-0, winning both scratch series and both Baker series from Pasco at Lake Bowl. Moses Lake got a tremendous performance from freshman Shanice Brice, whose two-game scratch total of 436 broke the team's previous season high of 423.
"We had a great series here," Chiefs head coach Billy Brice said. "We bowled very good."
Moses Lake rolled a 990 in the first of two scratch games, breaking their own league high of 923 set last week. Brice bowled a 224, while Virginia Valdez (204) and Michelle Reynolds (203) also broke the 200-pin mark to lead the Chiefs to a 990-745 win.
Sandy Smith finished at 194 and Amanda Strezlczyk at 165 in the first scratch game.
"That 990 is going to be high," Brice added. "That's one of the highest scores we've ever shot."
In game two, Moses Lake outgunned Pasco 854-781 as Smith rolled a team-high 223. Brice totaled 212, with Valdez and Reynolds each at 148 and Strezlczyk at 123.
In the two-game Baker series, Moses Lake was victorious by scores of 172-140 and 136-113.
"They're bowling as a team. I'm very proud of them," Brice said. "They're coming together, they're practicing hard, they're working hard and their scores are showing that."
Moses Lake hosts the Davis Pirates on Thursday at Lake Bowl, a 3:30 p.m. start.
