MOSES LAKE - A 16-year-old Moses Lake male allegedly involved with the shooting death of Leoncio Garcia, 18, turned himself in to Grant County Juvenile Detention Sunday night.

Moses Lake Police had a warrant issued for the arrest of Ismael Ortiz, 16, for manslaughter and unlawful possession of a firearm Friday. Ortiz reportedly became a suspect after police conducted interviews with witnesses at the shooting scene.

Garcia reportedly died of a single gunshot wound to the chest Nov. 10. He was allegedly shot at Ortiz's Cascade Avenue residence in Moses Lake with a .22 caliber revolver.

It remains unclear why Garcia was at Ortiz's residence, police reported. The shooting is not gang related and the two youth knew each other but details of their relationship were not released.

A neighbor reportedly began to drive Garcia to Samaritan Healthcare in a personal vehicle for treatment. Police stopped the vehicle while in route to the shooting and found Garcia inside. He was taken to Samaritan Healthcare for treatment.

He was later transported to Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane where he died, police advised.
