Dolores Gudmunson, 79
Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away Thursday, Nov. 15 at the Cashmere Convalescent Center in Cashmere, Wash. She was born Sept.14, 1928, to James and Nellie Maguire in Collingdale, Pa. Dolores was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Ray Gudmunson of Ephrata, her parents, her brothers Kenny and Bud Maguire and sister Marie Gudmunson.
Dolores married Ray on Sept. 16, 1950, in Mt. Vernon, Wash., then moved to Ephrata and quickly became an active participant in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Parish. She enjoyed walking and could often be seen on one of her daily walks, preparing for one of her local run competitions, or walking one of her, or walking one of her beloved dogs. Dolores was a past president of the Lady Elks of Ephrata, and was active in the altar society, lay ministry, and YLI of St. Rose of Lima Parish. Over the years, many children of the parish benefited from her gift of teaching the catechism of the catholic faith in CCD, and by her 20 plus years of service to children as an aide in the Ephrata School District. She supported the local chapter of American Field Service and hosted students from foreign countries.
She is survived by her five children and their spouses: Donna and Gary Huesties of Ephrata, Lucy and Van Ford of East Wenatchee, Mark and Brenda Gudmunson of Puyallup, Dennis Gudmunson of Everett, and Angela and Dan Zack of Fresno, Calif.; and three grandchildren and their spouses: Natalie and Jim Claussen of Ephrata, Chuck Huesties of Ephrata, and Joy and Brian Reese of Moses Lake; and her sister Bernadette Maguire of Pennsylvania. Dolores will be lovingly remembered by her great-granddaughters Krista and Sarah Clausson, and Gillian Reese. Dolores was loved by all and will be missed by countless friends and relatives.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary for Dolores Gudmunson will be Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, with viewing preceding the service. Mass of the Christian Rite of Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Nov. 21 at 11 a.m. A reception will be held at the parish center following the graveside interment. The family requests that remembrances be sent in Dolores' name to St. Rose of Lima Catholic School, 520 Nat Washington Way, Ephrata, WA 98823.
Nicoles Funeral Home in Ephrata is in charge of arrangements.
