Susanne Christine Yearout 1943-2007

| November 13, 2007 8:00 PM

Susanne Christine (Peden) Yearout passed away at her home, in Tucumcari, N.M., on Nov. 6, 2007, after a battle with cancer.

Sue was born in Argos, Ind., on Dec. 3, 1943, to Jack L. and Christine Peden. As an only child she moved with her mother to Phoenix, Ariz. Susanne graduated from Phoenix Central High School in 1962. After graduation Sue left home to attend college at Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah. While attending BYU Sue met her husband, John H. Yearout. John and Susanne married Sept. 1, 1964, in the LDS Mesa, Ariz., Temple.

After finishing college John and Susanne moved to Chicago where they lived for seven years and began their family. Prior to moving to Moses Lake, Sue had become a proud mother of four. While being a stay-at-home mom, John and Sue opened and operated an arts and crafts retail store. After living and working in nearby towns in the area, John and Sue had increased their family by two, and had settled in Royal City. After 20 years with the community in Royal City, running a graphics design/newspaper business, John, Sue and their youngest child Matthew moved to Tucumcari, N.M. where John took a job with the local college.

While spending the majority of the time raising their six children, Sue is remembered by her friends and family as a person who was very giving and lived close to the teachings of Jesus Christ. Sue enjoyed antiquing, gardening, and loved the Christmas season. Sue was drawn to the Christmas season because it's a time to give, spread love, and to be with friends and family. Anyone who knew Sue knew that she would spend months preparing her home for the holiday season. Sue was serving as first counselor to the women's auxiliary, Relief Society, in the Tucumcari LDS Branch at the time of her passing.

Sue was deeply concerned about the welfare of her husband, six children and spouses, 14.5 grandchildren (one on the way) and friends. She had a special place in her heart for all of her grandchildren, and was deeply interested in all the activities that her grandchildren were involved in. She will always be remembered as a loving and giving grandma to all of her grandchildren.

Sue is survived by her husband John H. Yearout, her mother Christine Peden, her children Karina and Theron Blatter, (parents of six), James and Anjanette Yearout, (parents of three), Kerri and Chris Butler, (parents of three), Peter and Dawn Yearout, (parents of two and a half), Adam Yearout, and Matthew Yearout.

Memorial services will be held on Nov. 19, 2007, at 2 p.m. at the Royal City Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel in Royal Camp, Wash. Her remains will be placed in the Washington Columbia Basin area.
