Excited to continue service
MOSES LAKE -Incumbent Jon Lane took a large lead over challenger Karen Liebrecht for Moses Lake City Council position seven Tuesday night.
Lane obtained 1,495 votes and Liebrecht obtained 871 votes, according to the Grant County Auditor's Office preliminary results.
"It was a good election; I'm very pleased to be able to serve four more years," Lane said.
He said citizens can expect more positive city projects in the future.
In a previous interview with the Columbia Basin Herald, Lane said he is a leader and a listener and he plans to continue to represent his constituents.
"I have been a leader all my life. I have been involved with leadership in various organizations and consider myself a lifelong learner," he said. "I have no agenda except to try to make Moses Lake the best possible place for my family for the future."
In addition to serving the city council he is an elementary school principal.
Lane said he faces the obstacle of balancing his career with his civic duties. He said he works best under pressure and accepts the challenge.
