GRANT COUNTY - The Grant County Health District is offering flu shots to the public, and there is no shortage of vaccine.

"There's plenty of vaccine out there this year, and we'd really like to see everyone get out and get their flu shot," said Health Educator Theresa Fuller.

Flu clinics are offered in Ephrata, George and Moses Lake.

Fuller said no cases of influenza have been confirmed so far by the health district.

The health district prefers people are vaccinated before Thanksgiving due to all the traveling during the holiday season, she said.

"We're not officially in flu season, we're in preparation for flu season," Fuller said.

According to the health district, it can take up to six weeks to recover fully from the flu.

Administrator Peggy Grigg said the flu shot protects against three different types of influenza.

People who are at risk for flu complications, those who are in contact with at-risk individuals, and the general public are recommended to get vaccinated, Grigg said.

Individuals must be at least 6 months old to be vaccinated. The cost is $30. Pneumonia vaccines are offered for $48 and TDAP vaccines are offered for $56 at the clinics.

Clinic days and times are:

Columbia Ridge Elementary School, at 60 H Street in Ephrata, Nov. 8 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
