KITTITAS - The Moses Lake Christian volleyball squad is headed back to the 1B state tournament after placing first at the district tournament over the weekend.
The top-seeded Lady Lions began the tournament with a 25-14, 25-16, 25-23 victory over the Entiat Tigers. Esther Timofeyev finished with a team-high 15 kills and added 10 digs and five aces. Heidi Sandberg had 10 kills, eight acs and eight digs. Ashley Cole distributed 31 assists, and Lindsay Brader picked up a team-high 14 digs.
Moses Lake Christian advanced to the championship game, where it swept the Pateros Nannies 25-23, 25-20, 25-20. Timofeyev again led the Lions with 15 kills and four aces, Sandberg had eight kills, seven digs and three blocks, and Cole dished out 29 assists.
The Lions will open state tournament action at the Yakima SunDome on Thursday at 2 p.m. against the Crescent Loggers. Depending on the outcome, Moses Lake Christian would play a 6 p.m. loser-out game or a 7:30 p.m. quarterfinal contest against either Sunnyside Christian or top-ranked Tekoa-Oakesdale.
The tournament wraps up on Friday, with the championship match taking place at 8 p.m.
Toppenish 3, Othello 1
SELAH - The Lady Huskies dropped their loser-out match with the Wildcats on Saturday, ending their season with a 25-18, 25-21, 25-21 setback.
Allison Walker led Othello in kills with 13 and digs with 15. She also had three blocks. Kylee Mollotte contributed six kills, 12 digs and 9 for 9 serving, while Justin Villarreal had 13 digs, eight assists and three kills.
Also contributing for the Huskies were Kayla Dickson (team-high 12 assists, 11 of 12 serving), Natalie Morgan (five kills) and Olivia Lopez (13 of 13 serving).
Grandview, Selah and Ellensburg earned the Central Washington Athletic Conference's three berths to state.

SELAH - After winning their loser-out contest with the Prosser Mustangs earlier on Saturday, the Lady Tigers fell to the Bulldogs 25-17, 25-14, 25-16 to end their season. No other details were available.
Zillah 3, Royal 0
ZILLAH - In the South Central Athletic Conference district tournament on Saturday, the Knights ended their season with back-to-back-losses to Goldendale and the host Zillah Leopards. No other details were reported.
Goldendale, River View, Connell and Cle Elum were the league's four survivors into this weekend's 1A state tournament at Yakima.
