Reported gang members armed, one threatens police

QUINCY - Two Quincy men with reported gang ties are being sought by authorities after one suspect was nearly caught Wednesday during a police chase, authorities said.

Juan Luis Blancas, 23, and Luis Carlos Perez, 20, are considered armed and dangerous, said Quincy Police Chief Bill Gonzales. They have reportedly said they'll use guns to prevent their capture.

They are believed to be hiding together from police and allegedly involved with the West Side 18th gang. They're not being sought for gang-related crimes.

Perez reportedly made death threats this week over the phone to police after his reported sighting at a Quincy home on the 400 block of L Street Southwest. After police chased Perez on foot, he then allegedly left the area in a minivan with his father Abel Perez, 41.

Abel Perez was later found at his home at another address, but his son had disappeared, according to police. Abel Perez was arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting, resisting arrest, rendering criminal assistance and making false or misleading statements to police.

Blancas is wanted because he allegedly violated protection orders stemming from a domestic violence situation, Gonzales said.

Perez has outstanding warrants for violating a probation order, but it wasn't clear Thursday why the order was issued.
