Moses Lake man runs for port office
Touts experience with economic development
MOSES LAKE — A Moses Lake man announced he is running for the Port of Moses Lake Commission Sunday.
Mike Conley is running for the district one position currently filled by David Jones.
Jones will no longer be eligible for the position because he moved out of the Moses Lake port district.
Conley manages the Port of Warden. Previously he managed the Port of Mattawa for 17 years.
"Since retiring as the manager of the Port of Mattawa, I have time and energy to devote as a commissioner for the Port of Moses Lake and I am very interested in being a part of the continuing growth of our community," he said.
During the management of Conley, the Port of Mattawa received the Washington State Port Associations Port of the Year Award in 2000.
He serves on the Grant County Economic Development Council, the Big Bend Economic Development Council, the Moses Lake Lions Club and the Board of Directors for the Moses Lake Senior Center.
He graduated from the University of Idaho where he studied agricultural economics. In the past, he served as a Grant County Public Utility District Commissioner and founded the Pacific County Economic Development Council.
